What exactly is a Storage plan for?
It's dedicated storage space, not for running demanding applications: external backups, project files, media libraries, archived email or a file repository for your team.
Is it a VPS with its own operating system?
No. Storage is a dedicated storage account on TrueNAS, with no operating system or server console — you connect to your files via SSH or SFTP with your own user. If you need a full server with an operating system, check out our High-Performance Cloud VPS or Basic VPS.
Why HDD and not SSD or NVMe?
HDD costs much less per gigabyte than SSD or NVMe. For data that's written once and accessed occasionally (like backups or historical files), it's the most reasonable option on price. If you need constant read/write speed, our High-Performance Cloud VPS with NVMe is the right choice.
Can I use it as network storage for my other servers?
Yes. With your dedicated SSH/SFTP user, you can connect your other servers so they automatically send backups or files via rsync, scp or your preferred SFTP client.
Can I use it as a backup destination for my cPanel/WHM with JetBackup?
Yes, it's one of the most common uses. JetBackup supports remote SFTP destinations, and your Storage works as that external destination — whether your cPanel/WHM hosting is with Capa7 or another provider.
Does the plan include backup or snapshot?
